The Helium Comedy Academy is an ongoing monthly class which focuses on developing and honing a range of skills in various comedic disciplines including stand-up, improv, and sketch. Our philosophy in teaching comedy is understanding that training is essential. It's a craft similar and not unlike any dance, theatre or vocal program. There's a foundation that can be learned which will expedite one's success. Ongoing workshops are for everyone. Beginner to advanced.

MARY BETH BARONE is a comedian, writer, and actor based in New York City. She made her late-night television debut on THE TONIGHT SHOW starring Jimmy Fallon. Mary Beth has headlined sold out shows at New York Comedy Fest, Netflix Comedy Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe. Mary Beth self-produced her first stand-up special THOUGHT PROVOKING, which was released on YouTube. Her feature script YOU’RE MY BEST FRIEND was featured on The Black List. Mary Beth played a lead role in THE ANNE FRANK GIFT SHOP, which was shortlisted for an Oscar in 2024 in the live action short category. She can be seen in the latest season of Netflix’s critically acclaimed show, BLACK MIRROR. She is the co-host of the popular podcast, RIDE, with Benito Skinner for Dear Media, which debuted in the top 10 on Spotify. She can be seen performing all over New York City.

After expanding minds with her first comedy special, THOUGHT PROVOKING, Mary Beth has decided to do the unthinkable: write a bunch of new jokes totaling approximately 1 hour. And she's going out on the road to give you the chance to hear these jokes LIVE... holy sh*t. The Pillow Talk Tour will attempt to popularize Mary Beth's musings on some lighter topics which we won't tease here - buy a ticket, silly! There will be dark stuff, too. I mean, this is Mary Beth we are talking about. Coming to this show will be kinda like sitting on a super comfy couch gabbing with your best friend who you agree with on every issue. Alabama native, Waffle House enthusiast and stand-up comedian Derrick Stroup is not your average slow talking Southerner. With the cadence of an angry auctioneer, he locks people in with his detailed stories and over the top energy. Derrick can be seen at the world-famous Comedy Cellar in New York City along with headlining clubs all across the country. In 2023, Derrick appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and was named a New Face at JFL Montreal. In 2024, Derrick shot his first special for Comedy Central. Derrick continues to tour alongside national headliners Bert Kreischer, Larry the Cable Guy, John Crist, and Nate Bargatze. Derrick highlighted 2024 by being a featured performer on Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas on CBS. Derrick is currently on his 2025 tour, Mad About Nothing.

Marcello Hernandez is a Cuban-Dominican Stand-up comedian, writer, and actor who can currently be seen on the 50th season of Saturday Night Live.

GOOD ANSWER! Is a live audience, survey-based game show that may or may not be a loving parody of another very popular game show. We ask the good people of Alpharetta and the surrounding areas the important questions and curate the top answers from our favorites. Each of the two competing teams will be made up of four comics/ podcasters/ local personalities and one lucky (and hopefully willing) audience member. Over the course of 90 minutes, those teams will do battle for global domination…or at least bragging rights and some cool prizes.

The only things we can guarantee with this many weirdos on stage:

1) Chaos is sure to ensue.

2) Fun will be had.

3) Every show is packed full of surprises.

Dan Toomey is a writer, comedian, and actor living in Brooklyn, NY. He currently works as a video creator for Morning Brew. His work has been featured in Vulture and McSweeneys. He regularly performs standup and improv comedy around New York. Dan loves to make fun of millionaire CEOs, except the ones who will adopt him. In 2022, Dan was selected as New York Comedy Festival “Content Creator to Watch.”

Steven Ho is a retired ER tech who has found a new career path as a comedian. Originally from California, Ho spent over a decade working in emergency medicine, using his quick thinking and problem-solving skills to save lives and help those in need. However, Ho also had a passion for comedy and entertaining, and he began performing stand-up comedy in his free time.

Over time, Ho’s comedy career began to take off, and he found himself booking more and more shows. Eventually, he made the difficult decision to retire from his work in the medical field and focus on his comedy full-time. He has since performed at comedy clubs and festivals all over the country.

Tyler Fischer is an actor, stand-up comedian, and viral content creator based in NYC. He has performed stand-up on America's Got Talent, been a guest star on NBC's Chicago Med, TV Land's YOUNGER and STARTUP on Netflix. Tyler is known for his viral content with over 200 million views on his online videos. He was named “The Best New Impressionist” by the New York Times and “NY’s Funniest Comedian” at the NY Comedy Festival. He has been on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and co-starred alongside Gina Carano in the movie Terror on the Prairie on The Daily Wire. Tyler is a regular at the Comedy Cellar and is currently touring his stand-up comedy around the country!

Nico Carney is a Brooklyn based standup comedian, actor and writer. His standup covers his experiences as a trans man, growing up in Savannah, Georgia, and whatever else he finds silly and interesting. Nico's monthly show at Club Cumming, BOYS CLUB, was recently a headliner at the 2022 New York Comedy Festival and has been spun off into a popular podcast. Nico performs frequently at Union Hall, Club Cumming, Broadway Comedy Club, The Bell House and Greenwich Village Comedy Club. He was a part of the NETFLIX INTRODUCING… showcase at the 2022 Netflix Is A Joke Festival, has been featured on Comedy Central’s The Gag and is developing the half hour comedy BOYS with Imagine Entertainment and Scott King.

Shapel Lacey is a Los Angeles based comedian born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. A diehard punk rocker and former award-winning competitive cheerleader, Shapel found ways to express himself and own his individuality at an early age. Shapel was cheerleading competitively for University of Louisville when someone dared him to take the stage as a comedian and he never looked back, dropping out shortly thereafter to pursue a career in stand up full-time. His unique life experiences such as being adopted by a Caucasian family at age 15, his punk rock mentality, and his stage presence make for a truly original voice in the comedy community. Diligence and the desire to grow led Shapel from the Phoenix open mic circuit onto main stages, where he regularly performed for comedians such as Bill Burr, Hannibal Buress, and Brendan Schaub, and is now headlining clubs across the country. Shapel was selected to be a “New Face” at the 2019 Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.

Corey Bonalewicz, aka COREY B, is an American radio personality, comedian, and content creator based in New York. Corey B has been working in Radio for over ten years. He got his start in New Orleans and has hosted radio shows in Chicago and New York. Prior to the pandemic, Corey performed stand up in the New York comedy club circuit and was planning on touring. Corey shifted his focus to long form content during the pandemic which showcased his comedic style on top of food hacks. He has amassed over 9M followers on TikTok and almost 6M followers on Facebook. He is releasing his own BBQ sauce and has equity in a New York restaurant and cookie company. Corey co-hosts a podcast, Cane and Corey, which is currently behind a paywall. He had a family YouTube page with his fiancé, The B Family, with a decent following but stopped posting due to restrictions on videos with children in them. Corey would like to dive back into YouTube and build upon this audience with a Corey B Reacts and Corey B Reviews page.

Cristela Alonzo made history when she became the first Latina to create, produce and star in her own network sitcom, ‘Cristela’ for ABC. Cristela made history again when she became the first Latina lead in a Disney Pixar film when she voiced the character of Cruz Ramirez in ‘Cars 3’.

Cristela has subsequently appeared in numerous films and TV shows, such as HBO’s ‘His Dark Materials’ and Stephen Soderbergh’s ‘The Laundromat.’ She has appeared on late night shows such as Conan, The Late Show with David Letterman and Stephen Colbert, and numerous talks shows and game shows as well as being a host on ABC’s ‘The View’. At just 24 years old, Daniel Dellanno has performed on stages from LA to New York to Barcelona. After graduating from North Carolina A&T University, Brand went on to pursue his dreams of bringing his talents to the television screen. The self-proclaimed ‘Energy God’ has utilized his platform to open doors for many industry opportunities to follow including writing as a TRL contributor, hosting at the BET (pre- and Social) Awards and more. Actor and comedian Jay Pharoah is one of the industry's most highly-anticipated leading men.

His upcoming slate of films includes Comedy Central’s OUT OF OFFICE, Catchlight Studios’ THE BLACKENING for Tim Story, the independent comedy MORT IN SHERMAN OAKS and Timothy Scott Bogart’s take on the history of Casablanca Records, SPINNING GOLD.

In the last year, Pharoah has starred in Netflix’s RESORT TO LOVE alongside Cristina Milian for producer Alicia Keys and in the Lionsgate thriller PRIVATE PROPERTY. The year prior, Pharoah co-starred opposite Harry Shum Jr. in Universal’s ALL MY LIFE, in Justin Simien’s critically acclaimed feature film BAD HAIR for Hulu, and in Lionsgate’s 2 MINUTES OF FAME for director Leslie Small.

EMILY CATALANO is a comedian/filmmaker from San Francisco who is known for her sharp joke writing and veritable dead pan delivery. In 2019 she was selected as one of Timeout LA’s Comics to Watch. She is a regular at The Punch Line and Cobbs Comedy Club, was a featured performer at Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, TX and selected as an Audible New Voice at SF Sketchfest. She regularly opens for Pete Holmes, and performs alongside Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro, Judd Apatow, and Patton Oswalt at the Largo Theater in Los Angeles. In 2019 she made her late-night stand-up debut on CONAN and this year her stand-up was featured on The Drew Barrymore Show. She is currently developing a semi-autobiographical series with Sean Hayes’ Hazy Mills Productions and CBS Studios.
