Stand-Up Comedy 101
Comedy Class Syllabus:
- Learn the basics of stand-up comedy in a structured class setting
- Mold topics into an original routine through a weekly on-stage performance workshop
- Translate your ideas into a crafted act through proper joke structure and editing techniques
- Experiment with elements of improv and acting to create a unique and organic performance
- Hone your joke-crafting skills with a focus on writing content
Comedy Classes Include:
- Six three-hour-long comedy class sessions at Helium Comedy Club, Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- A Graduation showcase at Helium will take place following the final class session (schedule permitting) in which participants perform for an audience of friends and family in a supportive, positive, and controlled environment

Instructor: Yoshee So
Yoshee So is a nationally touring comedian, improviser, teacher, and co-host of the popular Hot Breath podcast, which boasts over 35,000 subscribers and 12 million views across social media. A co-founder of the BIPOC improv troupe Red Pill Players, Yoshee has taught improvisation inspired by UCB’s Game theory and Second City’s Harold to organizations and at festivals nationwide through his company, Shift to Play. He’s performed at renowned venues like Stand Up Live, Helium Comedy Club, and Punchline Comedy Club and at festivals including Laughing Skull, World Series of Comedy, and Out of Bounds. In 2024, he released his debut comedy album, "American African," a hilarious take on his journey from immigrant roots to suburban superhero, solidifying his place as a multi-faceted force in comedy.
